About DJM Electronics

Founded in Los Angeles, 1978

In 1978, Derek McNally founded a manufacturers representative firm in Los Angeles, California. Incorporated soon after as DJM Electronics, the company originally concentrated on electromagnetic component lines, eventually establishing a strong relationship with Lectro Magnetics, Inc., the world's leading RF shielding manufacturer at the time. Advice from LMI's leadership and the military's focus on RF shielding and electromagnetic compatibility inspired Derek to build a complete EMC product line offering and become a one-stop shop for all things EMI related.

Four Decades in EMC

For the next two and a half decades, DJM Electronics worked with nearly every RF shielding company and EMC equipment manufacturer in the world. The company's longevity and active participation in local organizations and events earned it a reputation for honesty and integrity — and a position as one of the pillars of the close-knit EMC industry.

From Distribution to Manufacturing

In 2002, DJM Electronics utilized its network of friends and associates to develop new lines of business: first buying and selling used shielded rooms, then distributing shielding materials, and eventually designing and manufacturing high-speed digital signal filters. Today, DJM Electronics is recognized as the world's largest manufacturer of digital signal EMI filters and holds three patents in this growing field.

The ACTIV Filter Technology

DJM's proprietary active filter approach is the only commercially available technology capable of providing >100dB shielding effectiveness on high-speed digital signals while maintaining full data throughput. This technology is deployed in SCIFs, intelligence facilities, MRI suites, RF test chambers, and high-end audio installations worldwide.

Four Markets

DJM Electronics serves four primary markets: RF Testing and EMC laboratories, SCIF/TEMPEST and classified facility installations, Medical Imaging and MRI suites, and reference-grade Audiophile audio systems. Each market demands absolute signal integrity through the shield boundary — a requirement that only active digital signal filtering can meet.
